Afternoon Workshops (doors open at 1pm)

WORKSHOP #1  - 1:30 p.m.
  •  AMAN Institute Dance Favorites -In its hey-day, the AMAN Institutes were THE folk happening of the year.  Through the company's "AMAN Scholarship" program, many of its dancers and musicians received grants for research trips around the world, and in turn brought back material to be taught (sometimes for the first time in the U.S.) at the yearly AMAN Institutes.  The recipients of the AMAN scholarships traveled widely making field recordings, attended festivals and took private lessons across Croatia, the Balkans, Tunisia, West Africa and the Middle East.  Mostly in the late 60s to early 80s.  We honor our heritage of education and research today with this workshop sampling of dances taught over the years at AMAN Institutes.  With past AMAN Institute teachers;  David Shochat & Carol Akawie - Macedonian, Robyn Friend & Neil Siegel - Middle Eastern and  Dick Oakes - Serbian.

WORKSHOP #2 - 3:00 p.m.
  •  "AMAN100 Songbook" Group Sing-Along -In celebration for our AMAN100 (wink-wink) reunion party, we have created a souvenir song book with "100 songs" performed by AMAN throughout its 40+ year history.   We will be using this new songbook as the basis for this workshop AND later after dinner for a fabulous Tamburitza sing along with the band!   It will be quite the collection, with a wide range of song material from all over the world.  AMAN was eclectic in its repertoire, and that is reflected in this fun and exclusive AMAN100 songbook. Our volunteer alumni vocal cheerleaders for this sing-along are; Susie Burke, Barry Glass, Trudy Israel and Susie North.  Get ready to sing AMANites.. this workshop's gonna be fun!

WORKSHOP #3 - 4:30 p.m.
  •  Special AMAN Rehearsal Workshop  -It's a mystery.. what NEW SUITE will we be learning?  Where is it from?  Who's teaching?  Gotta come to find out!  But I CAN say it will be fun and flirty and fast-paced!  This is NOT TO BE MISSED!
